To be very clear, this patch doesn’t come from NCSoft. (As a side note, even the adult models look strange without clothing to distract the eye it becomes very obvious that most of them have absurdly - inhumanly - long legs, and that their bodies are strangely shiny, as if they were all made of polished plastic). I know they’re completely fictional, digital characters, but this still feels a bit like child porn to me, and it’s about as far from sexy as you can get. Here’s why: it comes with nude models for a lot of the game’s characters, including the very young (or at least young-looking) ones. As far as I can tell, the patch only works on the game’s female characters, so if you’re looking to see some hot naked guys, you’re out of luck.įrom what I’ve seen of it, though, I think the patch is more creepy than it is sexy. We’re not going to post pictures or video footage from the patch here because we know some of you are at work or just may not want to see it, but if you’ve seen Blade & Soul‘s female characters, you probably can imagine the general idea. ![]() Most recently, the patch was updated just last week in response to an official game patch to make it fully compatible with the latest version of the Chinese game. And while you wouldn’t think there’d be need for a nudie patch given how skimpy some of the game’s in-game outfits are, some enterprising modders in China have created one anyway.Īmazingly, the Chinese patch has actually been around since before the game entered open beta in China, and it’s being updated with surprising consistency. I personally think with the whole treehouse scandal and the past treatment we've normally gotten from companies bringing a risque' Asian mmo to our shoes (Tera, being a big one recently, but let's not forget Scarlet Blade either, an adult mmo with nudity that got censored because of its child looking race, as well as many others) most gamers seem to have their pitchforks and torches still in hand crying foul and shouting at the dark with no information or reason other than they can.Blade & Soul has taken East Asia by storm, with the game having just launched a new expansion in Korea and its open beta going swimmingly in China. A censorship of the game would have started right there, neither was altered in any way. I named at least two above that you completely ignored. Changing dialog of a quest, which had 100% fanservice dialog, to quest dialog that fleshes out the game world a bit more is a change i welcome, and despite NC Soft reps saying in an interview that the change was because the original quest made a couple employees uncomfortable doesn't matter in the long term of things if the change itself ended up being positive, which it was.Īlso, as i mentioned, there are a massive shit ton of things they COULD have censored, which would have made more sense IF they were actually censoring. After seeing that change for myself, while it is significantly tamer in subject matter, it makes up for it by actually adding lore to one of the NPC races in the game that hardly have any lore to speak of. Like i said earlier, i am against censorship heavily and was also very vocal and angry about the quest line that was changed. Character creation, not 99% of the game like you claim, and those of us that have been there since the beginning of this decision greatly appreciate the change. So in actuality, the "censorship" that was demanded by the players themselves to help with character creation, seems to actually only be an issue during. They have no effect if you are not wearing an outfit. You may say, "Well i won't wear it! I'll be, by game standards, naked always!" Which will, very quickly, hinder you significantly because soul shields, the items that pretty much give you all the stats, will be unusable. ![]() At the very beginning, like the first thing that happens, is you get an outfit. ![]() You say that the underwear change affects the entire game instead of just character creation. Click to expand.Don't need one, but I'll humor you a second.
